How to Prepare for Cockroach Control Treatment
How do you prepare for your cockroach control appointment? There are several things you can do in the days leading up to it. To make it easier for you, we’ve broken this section down into different rooms of your house.
In the Kitchen
- Pull all of your appliances away from the walls. Yes, this includes your refrigerator, along with your microwave and stove. Be sure to remove any food debris, and clean your appliances with a warm soap solution.
- Upper and lower cabinets must be emptied. Any food that is not factory-sealed must be disposed of. All other items in cabinets must be placed in boxes and removed before treatment.
- Remove food debris from counters and clean them with a warm soap solution.
- Empty your trashcans before the treatment is performed and daily after treatment.
In the Bathrooms
- All upper and lower cabinets must be emptied. Items in cabinets must be placed in boxes and removed before treatment.
- It’s also a good idea to mop the floors before treatment.

In the Bedrooms and Living Areas
- Dresser and nightstand drawers must be emptied. Any clothing needs to be washed and dried in high heat and removed while treatment is performed. Any nightstand contents need to be boxed up and removed while treatment occurs.
- Contents under beds must be removed. Remove bed sheets, blankets, and pillows. Lean your mattress up against the wall to access bed frames.
- Box up and remove closet contents before treatment. Hanging clothing may stay.
- Pick up and wash any rugs. All floors must be swept and mopped before treatment.
What to Do After Cockroach Control Treatment
Please be patient as it may take three weeks and up to several months to eliminate a cockroach infestation. We strongly suggest that a follow-up service be scheduled 10-14 days after your initial treatment.
Here’s what you should expect following your treatment:
- Week 1: You might see a temporary increase in activity as roaches react to their changing reality post-treatment.
- Week 2: The numbers should start dropping. You might notice an occasional dead cockroach.
- Week 3: You shouldn’t see anything.
Although we stand behind all our services, many reintroduction variables are beyond our control. For this reason, we do not offer warranties on our cockroach services.
